The fake doctor, Ronald Melly, from Nandi County, performed eight successful operations at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital before he was transferred to head Meteitei Sub-County hospital, a report shows.
A report shows that Ronald Melly, the fake doctor from Nandi County, performed eight successful operations and only one of his patients died at the Kapsabet County Referral Hospital before he was transferred to head Meteitei Sub-County hospital. His uncle is calling on the government to sponsor him to train as doctor or clinical officer.
The details, which sparked a public outcry, were contained in a report prepared by Health ministry officials in the county which was tabled in the assembly before the House went on recess.
The report indicated that of the nine patients Mr Melly attended to, only one died between June 5 and July 14 this year. “During surgeries he and a group of other doctors carried out, the patient who was then expectant died because she was on ‘stage’ four of the complication but they managed to save the baby,” said Dr Serem.
Dr Lagat admitted that he was equally shocked that the man had been conducting operations and demanding over Sh25,000 for illegal surgeries on several patients some of whom had died. He promised that stern action would be taken against those involved. .
